Lift Every Voice For Freedom

Lift Every Voice promo image_edited.jpg

April 5th & 6th, 2024

This exciting collaboration between the Arvada Chorale and The Spirituals Project will explore the power of spirituals. These songs, created and first sung by enslaved Africans in the 17th and 18th centuries, continue to lift us up to work for a better, more just society. Our combined concert will celebrate the gift of prayer and human connection — in both secular and sacred settings — to keep us going when times are hard. Don’t miss this life-affirming performance!

Concerts:

  • April 5th at 7:00 PM at Bethany Lutheran Church Denver

  • April 6th at 3 :00 PM at Arvada United Methodist Church.

Unearthing Our Roots

June 1, 2024

We’ll be joined by the ensemble Southern Journey, which takes its name from folklorist Alan Lomax’s 1959 field recordings that preserved the music of church choirs, jug bands, singers like Bessie Jones and Delta bluesmen like Mississippi Fred McDowell. Southern Journey captures a uniquely American experience of working folks gathering on the porch, taking up guitar, bass, banjo and fiddle, and shaking off the dust of the day’s labor to fill the night air with song.

Concerts:

  • June 1, 3:00 pm Arvada United Methodist Church
